Sesame-Ginger Green Beans

Green beans sauteed in a sesame-ginger sauce with mushrooms and sesame seeds.
 

Ingredients

  • 2 tsp canola oil
  • 1 tsp dark toasted sesame oil
  • 1 whole clove of garlic
  • 1 medium onion thinly sliced
  • 16 oz bag frozen Italian style cut green beans (the broad type)
  • 2 cups sesame-ginger dressing (I used Newman's Own, light version)
  • 1/2 cup cleaned and sliced button mushrooms
  • 1 Tbsp dried porcini mushrooms, crumbled
  • Pinch of cayenne pepper
  • Salt to taste
  • Toasted sesame seed for garnish

Method

In a skillet saute on medium heat, onion and garlic in canola and sesame oil, till golden-stir often. Add sesame ginger dressing and mix well. Add green beans, mix well. Add mushrooms, salt, cayenne and mix well. Lower heat, cover and let cook until green beans are soft and liquid is evaporated. Sprinkle toasted sesame seeds on each serving.

 

Notes: For crunchier beans, use 1/2 cup less dressing. This side dish goes well with sweet and sour chicken.
